The Chicago Steel are proud to announce that Michael Fallon has committed to play hockey at the University of Massachusetts Lowell beginning in the 2012-13 season.
Fallon is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound forward is in his first season with the Steel. The Glenview, Ill. resident and Loyola Academy alumnus, has registered three goals and four assists in nine games in 2011-12 with the Steel.
"I always thought I would be attending school out east," Fallon said. "One of the main reasons I chose Lowell was because of the coaching staff. They were great during the recruiting process and I heard nothing but good things about them. After I saw the campus and the facilities at UMass Lowell, it made my decision very easy."
Fallon played in three games last year with the Waterloo Black Hawks and 58 games for the Springfield Jr. Blues of the North American Hockey League. He scored 17 goals and tallied 41 assists for the Jr. Blues last season.
"We are excited that Michael has the opportunity to play college hockey," head coach Scott McConnell said. "The coaching staff at Lowell and the facilities are first class, and Michael will continue to develop as a hockey player under their tutelage.
"Michael has worked hard at every stop along his hockey career. As a '91 in our league it is nice to see his hard work pay off."
Fallon is the second member of the Steel organization to commit to this season. Chicago defensemen, Chris Joyaux, announced on Oct. 11 that he will be attending Miami University.
